You could (or might have already been trying to) find someone to put on the payroll, but it would mean you'd have to be quite careful in selection.
You'd have to make sure the person you hire can do everything without too much oversight, and let's be honest, you and I both know that it isn't easy to find good people.
Rarely is anyone ever hired and immediately turned into a superstar. By extension, the time that this new employee will have to take to prove themselves will, more likely than not, not live up to the money you've invested in them.
Quite the costly decision.
Then, you have to go through the entire headache of firing them. The severance packages, the paperwork, it's a nightmare. After spending all your money, time, and mental energy fighting with lawyers, you're right back at square one and have to do it all over again.
